Meet the Coaches

We share as an organization the commitment to remain positive, patient, and supportive of one another. We channel any challenges in a positive way to set a great example for the kids. We win some. We lose some. We grow together.

JASON SILVER

Founder and Coach of 2032

Like all people born into Chicago Cub families, Jason learned to cope with pain and disappointment at an early age. He played baseball in various leagues and tournaments until age 45 when he finally traded his cleats for a clipboard. After observing the shenanigans from the sidelines for a few seasons, Jason could watch no more and took the leap into little league coaching. The Billygoat team was ultimately born out of a desire to deliver a better, local travel baseball experience. Jason takes pride in pushing his players to become the best versions of themselves on and off the field. When Jason is not strategizing with the other Billygoat coaches via 10,000 daily texts, you can find him crushing opponents on the pickleball court. Off the field, Jason enjoys spending time with his wife of nearly 18 years, Carrie, their chubby dog Cooper, and their amazing kids – baseball player Hudson, and daughters Ayla and Kennedy, who are competitive cheerleaders.

PHIL BOTTFELD

Founder and Coach of 2032

Born in South Florida with a glove in one hand and a bat in the other, Phil is a big fan of the Atlanta Braves. He played baseball until high school but wasn't particularly good enough nor tall enough to continue. Recently, Phil found his calling as a coach at the youth levels. His Little League record boasts two undefeated seasons, with only four total losses, three of them to Coach Jason Silver. The mantra holds - if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em! Phil knows what it takes on the field, having led a team to championship wins in the three Boca Raton Little League divisions he has coached. As a result, Phil has been tapped to be the head coach of multiple Boca Raton Little League All-Star teams. His demonstrated love of the game and commitment to the development of youth baseball players, is what drives his dedication and excitement to the Boca Billygoats.

PATRICK O'DEADY

Founder and Coach of 2032

A Long Island native, Patrick grew up with a love for all sports, playing baseball, basketball, and football.  His passion for baseball came to the forefront during his formative years. As a travel baseball player from the ages of 12 through 18, Patrick starred as third baseman player his high school varsity baseball team. Highly competitive slow-pitch softball came next for Patrick, with multiple state and national championships under his belt. As a youth coach, he finds joy in passing on his vast knowledge of baseball to the next generation. In his rare spare time, Patrick can be found cheering on his favorite team, the New York Yankees.

DJ MALONE

Head Coach of 2033 Blue

Born and raised in Michigan, DJ has always had a deep love for all things sports, particularly Michigan’s teams. Growing up, he played baseball, football, hockey, basketball, and golf in high school, with each sport shaping his understanding of teamwork and competition. After moving to Parkland, DJ got his start in coaching while watching his son play coach pitch. From there, he became a staple on the sidelines, coaching both recreational and travel baseball for teams like the West Boca Panthers and later the Parkland Pokers. He has also enjoyed coaching his daughter’s tee-ball and soccer teams, which gave him the chance to help young athletes develop.

After taking a short break, DJ felt the itch to return to coaching and saw an opportunity with the Billygoats. He loves the challenge of developing younger players, not just into better athletes but into strong, confident young men. When he’s not coaching, you can find him spending time with his wife, son, daughter, and their dog, Charlie.

Tyler Durland

Head Coach of 2035

Tyler, born and raised in South Florida and has always had a passion for baseball. He started playing travel baseball at the age of 7 with the Coconut Creek Hawks. Tyler played travel baseball all the way until he graduated high school at Saint John Paul II Academy in 2020. He was a 3-year starter on varsity with them. (Sophomore, Junior and Senior year.) During his junior year of high school, he received an offer to play college baseball at Loyola University New Orleans where he played up until graduation in 2024. (2 ankle surgeries during his time.) He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in finance.

After college, Tyler returned home to South Florida, where he currently resides. He has coached baseball for all ages up to collegiate level athletes. Tyler felt that it was time to focus on the new generation of young baseball players that have passion for the game like he did when he was there age. When the Billy Goats approached Tyler about developing the younger generation of baseball players, there was no hesitation. Tyler believes in good attitudes, respect and hard work that will help them become better on and off the field as they get older.

Brett Headshot.jpg

Brett Yonon

GM of 2035

Brett grew up in Miami and has been on baseball fields for as long as he can remember. A somewhat respectable high school ballplayer (depending on who you ask), he was always referred to as a coach on the field, which is a nice way of saying he talked too much and knew where everyone else should be standing.

Brett went on to coach Little League for several seasons with Coach Rob Sheres, collecting multiple first-place finishes and a league championship. When the Billy Goats organization launched its first-ever 8U team in Spring 2025, Brett and Rob were entrusted with building it from the ground up. Most of the team has been there since day one, and watching those ball players grow and develop has been Brett’s favorite part of this whole ride.

Over the past year, Brett has poured his time, energy, effort and a torn rotator cuff into shaping this team into what it is today. He believes in developing players the right way, competing hard, and making sure the boys know how lucky they are to play this great game.

Brett lives in Boca Raton with his wife and their three children: daughters Finley and Savannah, who are absolutely sick of being dragged to ballfields, and his son Theo, who cannot be kept off of one.
